Harquip was established in 2005 by its managing directer Mark Astorquia. After 15 years of driving cane harvesters, 12 of which he was an owner driver mark has now sold his contract to concentrate on Harquip. Mark's father and brother have also been involved in the industry and 2008 will be the first time in 44 years an Astorquia has not supplied cane to Kalamia mill with a mechanical harvester. Mark's father also supplied hand cut cane to Kalamia mill well before this. During its infancy Harquip purchased stock from three existing businesses as well as stock purchases of its own. Harquip has expanded from only selling Harvester parts to become a full blown rural retail outlet. After starting in Mark's back yard shed
Harquip expanded to the Ayr industrial estate before moving its interests to a newly constructed premises in the heart of Ayr.
